Ruined Xmas: Hundreds Flee Into Bush As Insurgents Attack 3 Villages In Borno and Garkida village in Adamawa

The three villages, Tashan Allade, Shaffa, and Khiributu in Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State, came under attack by suspected Boko Haram insurgents sources said.

According to reports, the invaders came in their dozens to lunch a coordinated attack on the communities causing hundreds of the villagers to flee their homes as the attackers continued to shoot sporadically.

The villagers that escaped were said to be taking refugee in the nearby bushes.

A vigilante source said that the attackers razed down two EYN churches in Tashan Allade as the villagers fled into the bushes.

Balami Yusuf, a member of the civilian JTF disclosed that the insurgents are currently raining bullets on Shaffa and Khiributu villages respectively.

“As I am speaking to you, they are shooting. You can hear from the background.

“We are in the bushes and people are running and children are crying. We are helpless,” Balami lamented.

On a related development, insurgents had also attacked Garkida village in Adamawa State bordering Hawul LGA on Christmas Eve, killing at least six people and burning down houses.

According to Evelyn Lazarus, a resident of Adamawa state who shared photos of herself and some residents spending the night of Christmas Eve in the bush when Boko Haram terrorists were attacking Gardika town in Gombi local government area of Adamawa state.

Reports gathered showed that the insurgents invaded the town through the major road linking the area with Biu in Borno state, forcing residents to flee the town into the bush and mountainous areas as the invading terrorists looted food items and burnt houses, and shooting sporadically.

Another resident who identified herself as Rebecca, another resident disclosed that the insurgents stormed the town when the people were making last minutes preparations for Christmas.

“They came into the town with about five vehicles and moments they started sporadic shootings forcing the villagers to flee in the ensuing confusion. We could see them from afar in our hideouts as they continue to loot, ravage houses, pharmaceutical stores even as domestic animals were not left out,” she stated
