Slained Benue Notorious Militant Was Allegedly Offered ₦350 Million By Sponsors Of Fulani Herdsmen To Assist Them To ‘Capture’ Taraba State

Newsie Events:-
Terwase ‘Gana’ Akwaza, the slain ‘most wanted criminal’ in Benue State, had once demanded N1 billion to help alleged Fulani herdsmen carry out attacks in Taraba State.
The aim of the attacks, according to Gana, was to help Fulani herdsmen ‘capture’ the state following clashes in parts of the state.
The alleged notorious criminal revealed this in a 2016 interview with Channels TV after he was declared wanted in connection with some killings by the police.

Gana said when he found out that Nigerian soldiers were after him, he “followed those Fulani…they led me to Niger, then to Cameroon and back to Nigeria.”
He said, “They started saying that they have ‘clashes’ in Nigeria in about four states they want to capture, being Plateau, Taraba, Benue, and Nasarawa States.
“Those ‘mallams’ I was working with said they brought people that would sponsor (the attacks). The one that called me chose to sponsor (attacks) in Taraba…that we should capture Taraba State.
“Then when I went to finalize the ‘connection’ that they would give me before the fight would start, I told them that they should give me N1 billion. But those people said that the money was too much. They started to bargain the money with me and offered N50million.
“But I said N50 million was too small…that they should give me at least N750 million…because Taraba State has Army Barracks and many securities inside. So that with the security we can make an understanding with them and know how the fight will go on.
“So, those people said that the price was too much. They offered me N350 million, but I refused to fight because N350 million was too small to fight against the Taraba State Government.”

Gana, who was said to have masterminded several killings and other crimes in Benue State, was killed by Nigerian troops along the Gbese-Gboko-Makurdi on Tuesday.
He, alongside his gang members, was said to have surrendered his arms and was being conveyed to Makurdi to receive amnesty from the Benue government when the troops tracked him down and killed him. [OrientalTimes]
