The executive Chairman of Abak LGA Akwa Ibom state Mr Imo Williams has fallen into serious irremediable trouble following an irruption through smear campaign by solely sponsoring his media unit to debunk that he did not tell his creditor, Mr Uwem Obot, that governor Udom Emmanuel is not paying reasonable allocations to Abak Local Government council.
The Chairman’s efforts to deny this revelation has regrettably landed him in mysterious trouble, as the furniture dealer Mr Uwem Edet popularly known as Uwem Assian granted a live video interview in confirmation that the council helmsman actually told him about the financial misappropriation of the state Governor when it comes to Abak local government allocation and used same as a flimsy excuse against paying his #2.8m renovation’s debt.
The video interview made in a local dialect Mr Uwem Obot confirm that the council helmsman even told him how the council Chairmen in Akwa Ibom recently turned down the allocation that was given to them in February 2020 and walked away from the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy Affairs in Akwa Ibom Mr Udo Ekpenyong who represented the state governor, Mr UDOM Emmanuel, in the meeting, ” we walked out from them because the allocation was nothing to beacon with” Imo Williams intimated Uwem Assian.

Mr Edet made further revelations that each time he meets the council boss to recover his debt worth #5.8m he will tell him there is no money in the council because of poor allocations from the governor who he (Imo Williams) described as the worst governor in Nigeria, but surprisingly that the same Chairman who is condemning the governor of poor allocations is building houses, acquiring properties outside the country, buying hotels in Port Harcourt, Bayelsa, Lagos, Calabar and even building hostels at various higher institution’s environment.
Mr Uwem said, ‘when the Chairman went on suspension awarded to him by the state house of Assembly because of his debt activities in the area, I met with the vice-chairman of the council lady Benita Ukpe who incidentally took over as acting Chairman ” I presented documents of the renovations to her and In less than three months she paid me #3m… meanwhile this is the same council that Mr Imo will always lament and ridicule the image of His Excellency the governor for embezzling Abak Local Government council allocation and turned same council into zero allocation. It was the same reason he used as an excuse to dodge from paying me my money”
He said the Vice-Chairman also took over the renovation of four Office complex she tiled it and put doors in almost all the rooms, but when the desperate embattled Chairman returned from his suspension, he became aggrieved with the vice Chairman for paying me the #3m. since then, he has not given me the remaining balance of #2.8m of which the vice Chairman would have paid if the so-called Chairman did not return to the council.
Furthermore, In another revealing encounter tends to expose the evil practices of the council Chairman, another right-hand man of the council boss who declined his name for security reasons, recalled that the construction of the legislative chamber which was one of the deceived projects of the debt owing councilman to mark his 100 days in office, the day of the groundbreaking for the official laying of the foundation for the structure, the Chairman raised the sum of about #4.5m from the deputy governor Mr Moses Ekpo, the then state house of Assemblymember Rt. Hon Friday Iwok and Mr Aniekan Umanah, but surprisingly from the foundation to the present level of the building over #1.6m cement debts are already on ground.
He said, “even the labourers that laid the blocks from the foundation, the Chairman did not pay and the debt climbed to #480,000.”
“In one occasion the Engineer of the site was mercilessly beaten to coma by the labourers because the council Chairman lied to them that he has paid the money to the Engineer”… the source recalled. It took the intervention of the furniture dealer Mr Uwem Obot who instantly paid those workers the sum of #200,000 and continued the building from the council’s works department, using his money which runs into about #380,000 and up till date the Chairman has not refunded the money to him. Mr Obot actually collected some building materials alongside and has not paid the money till now.”
The council checks who hinted our correspondent in Akwa Ibom state said, “when the council helmsman returned from his debt suspension to see the development of the renovated office buildings through the efforts of the acting Chairman Lady Benita Ukpe, the Chairman Imo Williams immediately rent out the incomplete renovated apartment to the state revenue service but up till now the people have not relocated into the office due to non-completion even when the payment has been paid to the Chairman’s personal account, and whenever the people asked him if the office is ready for use he will call Mr Uwem Obot to paint the office.” Our source noted that painting of the place will cost not less than #400,000 meanwhile the Chairman has collected worth a million Naria from the state revenue service.
NEWSIE EVENT correspondent gathered from a reliable source that the council grader which the Chairman took to his house as his personal property, that the immediate past state house member Rt. Hon Friday Iwok donated to the Chairman the sum of #1m to work on the grader but now the Chairman is currently using the grader to make money into his pockets and not one day has he graded the road that leads to the ex-lawmaker’s resident in Abak.
This news medium was also informed that Imo Williams recently deceived the wife of the state governor Mrs Martha Udom Emmanuel that he is embarking on building shopping mall quite opposite the council, whereas the same mall place was built and completed by his predecessor Barr. Emmanuel Udosen. The only thing the Chairman Mr Imo Williams did was to increase the rent of the occupants of each lockup shop and enforced tax on them which he used as fresh payment against the previous that they already paid and that some of the shops were not furnished but the Chairman rented it out and collected the money. But, up till today, the people that rented the place has not moved in because work has not been completed.
In another development, it was found out that the local government Chairman Imo Williams lied and deceived the people and occupants of the old and new market that the governor has approved the building of both old and new market. He went as far as printing flex which our source said the said flex is presently in the council, he ordered the people to pay the sum of #10,000 to his private account through his committee and that the said shops which according to our source such project has not come to existence till now. meanwhile, the sum worth #20m has been paid into his private account.
He challenge the Chairman to come out either through a press release and tell the public which of the local government account has he been paying all the IGR that has been generating since he came into the council.
He described the council helmsman to have suffered from the nemesis of his grandfather who he said was dethroned as a village head after 3months for owing yam debt. Adding those evil activities of the executive Chairman are incongruous in Abak local government council.
