President Muhammadu Buhari received the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who visited him at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Monday.
The meeting between Buhar and Adeboye also had the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, and President’s Chief of staff, Ibrahim Gambari in attendance.

The agenda of the meeting is not yet known, but going by the controversies surrounding the passing of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) which Buhari recently signed into law, one will be assumed that the meeting might be connected to that.
Recall that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and other prominent men of God had rejected the amended law, describing it as “unacceptable and ungodly”.

The new CAMA provides that religious bodies and charity organizations would be regulated by the registrar of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and a supervising minister.
However, the presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, AKA Winners Chapel, David Oyedepo, condenmed the amended law, and asked the federal government to “expunge that part that affects the religious body from that document” as the CAC registrar and supervising minister may one day “appoint occultists to be managers of church affairs.”

CAN had said, “The law, to say the least, is unacceptable, ungodly, reprehensible and an ill-wind that blows no one any good. It is a time bomb waiting to explode,” adding that, “The satanic section of the controversial and ungodly law is Section 839 (1) &(2) which empowers the Commission to suspend trustees of an association (in this case, the church) and appoint the interim managers to manage the affairs of the association for some given reasons.”
