Seeing the movement of security officials, the residents, who need no one to tell them about the mission of the officials, started picking up their belongings as quickly as they can to avoid it being destroyed by the bulldozers and caterpillars the FCTA came with. Children were also seen guiding their belongings as their parents rush to gather the rest before the machine destroys them.
The Director of FCTA Department of Development Control, Muktar Galadima, said the government has resolved to put an end to land racketeering in the FCT and the demolition didn’t just happen, it affected shops and houses that were already marked by the government agencies.

“The FCTA has already made it clear that the actions and activities of land racketeers cannot and will never be condoned.
“That is why we are removing all those illegal developments,” he said.

Mr. Galadima who spoke to journalists stressed that there was a need to correct all abuses and neglect of the Abuja Master Plan. Galadima maintained that this administration will not condone land grabbing or racketeering.
On the part of residents whose properties and shops were destroyed, the situation is a difficult one indeed for them as a look on their faces radiates hopelessness.
Most of them were seen making calls, looking for how to survive the demolition that befell them.
