Security Operatives Successfully Averted Attack On Obaseki’s Convoy

By Chinenye Festus:-
Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State on Monday, August 31st witnessed an attempted attack which the police attached to him successfully averted.
The incident occurred when Obaseki was in a convoy on his way for the Ward-to-Ward campaign at Uhunmwode local government area of the state.
According to report gathered, the hoodlums mistook Obaseki for a prominent personality and allegedly fell a tree to block the road which brought the convoy to a halt temporarily in an attempt to rob motorists and commuters of their belonging.
The hoodlums were able to pull that because the governor’s convoy was moving slowly without blaring siren at Erua village.
A security source attached to the Governor’s convoy who wants his identity to be hidden told news reporters that the armed robbers thought Obaseki was a VIP as his convoy was moving slowly and wasn’t blaring siren.
The robbers started firing gunshot to scare the road users before carrying out their operation, fortunately the security operatives attached to Obaseki were able to thwart the attack.
The unidentified men then fled into the bush.
