What Students Should Do As Schools Remain Closed – By Caleb Onyeabor

Newsie Events:-
Today, I advised an 18-year-old friend to use this period to engage herself in learning a skill since schools are closed.” No, I am a corporate accountant. After my undergraduate studies, I will write ICAN exams, pass and get an automatic job. I don’t need to learn a skill” she replied.
She is just a very naive 100 level student. After laughing at her reply, I took my time to shatter the myth she was holding unto in her head. Gave her a list of friends I knew who had written ICAN and passed other professional exams but yet no job. One of which is doing well making and selling bags now.
I was just like her years ago. We were told in secondary school that graduating with a first-class will give you an automatic job. Fortunately for me, I developed an interest in coding and web development, enrolled for training, and acquired the skill. Though I still went ahead to graduate with a first-class, it is the web design and development skill I acquired that is putting food on my table now.
Schools have been closed since March, enough time to get your siblings engaged in learning one or two skills, talk to the ones near you, encourage a teen to learn a skill today.
Let them make use of this out of school period productively.
