Abuja: AMAC Secretariat Shutdown As Official Test Positive To Covid-19

The Abuja Municipal Council (AMAC) Secretariat has been shut down following confirmation of a Covid-19 case.
Daily Trust reports that the affected official had earlier reported herself to a hospital, where her samples were taken after noticing some Covid-19 symptoms, the result came out positive on Tuesday, July 7.
As a result of this, the chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu Candido, gave the shutdown directive.
In line with the NCDC guidelines, people who had contacts with her have been asked to proceed on self-isolation for 14 days.
Reacting to the news of the shutdown, Patience Olaloye who is the head of information department of the council has reportedly confirmed the report but explained that the secretariat was only partially shut.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Covid-19 cases now surpass 30,000 as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced 460 new infections on Wednesday night, July 8.
These new infections were confirmed in 21 states, with Lagos topping the chart again with 150 cases while Rivers occupied the second spot with 49 cases.
With the new infections, Nigeria now has 30,249 confirmed cases, 12,373 discharged, and 684 deaths.
A review of the NCDC data indicates that 265 people have recovered in the last 24 hours while 15 people have died with the same period.
