The Kogi government has finally adhered to the warning of the Nigerian Centre for disease control (NCDC) to impose a total lockdown on the Kabba-Bunu local government area of the state where the index case was recorded.
The decision of the governor over the Kabba-Bunu LGA was made known on Monday, June 1, in a statement made available to chief press secretary, Onugwo Muhammed.
According to Muhammed, “During the lockdown, there shall be no house to house movement within the local government area. “Street movement is completely prohibited within the local government area for the period. Palliative should be distributed house to house within the local government area.”
The lockdown in the area, according to the government, takes effect from Monday, June 1, the Cheif Press Secretary also said management team will continue with contact tracing to track those who might have had contact with the alleged index cases and that health workers who have physically met with infected persons should self-isolate.
Caution, they say, is better than blind bravery.. This is a step in a right direction!
