Obaseki disqualified from Edo Primary Governorship Election

By Chinenye Festus :-
Godwin Obaseki, the Governor of Edo State has been disqualified from participating in the primary election of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the forthcoming gubernatorial poll that will take place in September.
The chairman of the Committee, Professor Jonathan Ayuba announced this on Friday while briefing the Party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, and other party chieftains on the outcome of the screening exercise at the APC’s National Party Secretariat, Abuja. “We have screened six aspirants; three were deemed eligible to participate and three were found ineligible to participate,” Ayuba told party leaders at the briefing.
He said that the Governor was declared unfit on the basis of his faulted certificates. THE HSC and the (NYSC), said the certificates were defective.
Meanwhile, Obaseki through his spokesman Crusoe Osagie in a statement has totally rejected the result of the screening exercise, said its laughable, and a mockery of the democratic process.
He said the Governor will not appeal the outcome of the screening exercise. We have, therefore, decided that it would be an effort in futility to appeal whatever the unjust outcome of the evaluation and screening process of the APC will be, especially when Comrade Oshiomhole has declared that he is the Supreme Court and ultimate determiner of the fate and future of our great party,” he alleged.
Obaseki was disqualified alongside two others by the party’s Screening Committee.
