A new Executive of Oron Union, Uyo Branch has been inaugurated to pilot its affairs for the next two years with Mr. Effiong Essang, an Engineer as President.
Mr. OsuiniAbasi Alfred emerged as Vice President; Elder Ben Oyombio, Secretary; Mrs. Nkoyo Ibia, Treasurer; Mrs. Queen Onuoha, Publicity Secretary and Mrs. Roselyn Hanson, Welfare Officer.
The inauguration took place recently at Oro House shortly after a peaceful election conducted by Mr. Eddy Ukosin-led Election committee with adherence to the physical distancing rule.
Administering the oath of office on the members of the executive, Mr. Jackson Ette Jackson, a lawyer, admonished them to render selfless service to the union.
The President, Essang, thanked the members of the union for giving them the mandate to serve.
He promised the resolve of his executive to work harder to elevate the Uyo Branch of the union to an enviable position while soliciting the support of the people to enable them to succeed.
He said, “Our agenda is to build this Branch and make her the premium Branch of Oron Union”
To achieve this lofty mission, the President pledged a cordial working relationship with members of his executive.”
The Secretary-General of Oron Union Worldwide, Dr. Abraham Anlak, congratulated the new executive on their emergence and encourage them to be committed to duties.
Anlak, who is the immediate past secretary, Oron union, Uyo branch, reminded the executive of the need to be loyal to the union which he said was their responsibility while pledging the support of the union to enable them take Uyo Branch to glorious heights.
Dr. Ibia Ibia and Chief Paulo Akaiso prayed to God to give the new executive the wisdom to pilot the affairs of the union and stressed the need for members to ensure prompt payment of their dues.
On his part, Dr. Okon Bassey advised them to run an inclusive government while Mrs. Kate Hensley noted the substantial representation of the women in the new executive, and made case for the union to embrace peace always in the affairs of the Union.
