Tinubu Urges Nigerians to Continue to Support Democracy

Former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of All Progressive Congress APC have urged Nigerians to not abandon democracy but rather, they should continue to support it and believe in its tenets.
Tinubu gave the advice, in his democracy message which has its theme as”June 12, A Milestone for Democracy “on Friday, June 12, 2020.
According to the APC’s National Leader, he said to nurture our young democracy and see its growth is everyone’s responsibility. The News Agency of Nigeria (NANS) reports that June 12 is marked annually to remember the annulment of June 12 Presidential election.
Tinubu said that Nigerians deserve congratulations for the way we have carried our democracy and how far we have come.
He commended the relentless patriots who fought for democracy and maintained their integrity down to the end, was it was not an easy sacrifice, and their resilience has yielded tremendous results. “Dr. Beko Ransome Kuti, late Gani Fawehinmi, Baba Omojola, late Pa Rewane, late Pa Enahoro, Baba Ajasin, Pa Adesanya, and Baba Adebanjo”.He also thanked Prof. Wole Soyinka, Prof. Bolaji Akinyemi, Femi Falana, members of the civil society groups and student activists all fought hard and struggled mightily on everyone’s behalf.
He noted that these people mentioned and many other people contributed their quota in the June 12, 1993 elections, and changed the political climate in the country.
He said we must not relent in our effort to continue to improve on what have at the moment and remain vigilant so as to ward off those who may want to take us back to dark period.
