‘It Did Not Come To Us As A Surprise’ — APC Reacts To Obaseki’s Defection To PDP

By Newsie Events:-
Reactions Trail the defection of Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the All Progressive Congress (APC).
Obaseki’s former party, All Progressives Congress (APC) in their reaction to the defection of the Edo Governor to the PDP, said that the move is no news to them.
Recall that Newsie Events reported earlier today that Godwin Obaseki officially joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) after resigning from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Political pundits have all predicted Obaseki’s next move since he resigned from the APC on June 16th, 2020.
Moreover, Obaseki himself never hide his next move when he led some of his appointees and supporters to the PDP secretariat in Benin-City.
The National Publicity Secretary of APC, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, in his reaction to the development, stated that it was expected, and not a surprise thing to the party.
“It has not come to us as a surprise. We knew he had defected long ago because he resigned his membership of the party which we have accepted.
“So you can’t defect twice. So if he is defecting again, we don’t know whether what he has just done now is news any longer.”
Obaseki’s resignation from the APC came after it’s screening committee disqualified him from the June 22 governorship primary.
It is believed that his disqualification was a result of his long-running battle with his political adversary Adams Oshiohmole who happened to be the one that inaugurated the screening committee.
