Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports of a feud with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, while distancing himself from the recent State of Emergency declared in the state.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Monday, Wike stated that he had no involvement in the decision and would not have supported such a move if consulted by President Bola Tinubu.

“I don’t have any crisis with him (Fubara). I’m not the President who declared the State of Emergency. If Mr. President had asked me, I wouldn’t have supported it,” Wike said.

He explained that while the emergency declaration may have been a strategy to prevent the governor’s impeachment, he believes Governor Fubara allowed himself to be used by others seeking to undermine him.

“I said the emergency rule was to save the governor because he was almost impeached,” he noted. “But the governor, unknown to me, became a tool for those who couldn’t fight me directly.”

Wike also criticized the internal conflicts within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing some actors as “undertakers” causing unnecessary turmoil.
