Health workers at the Elebu Community Health Centre in Ibadan have pledged to enhance the quality of healthcare services they offer, reaffirming their commitment to the wellbeing of residents.
This assurance follows a recent publication that criticized some nurses for unprofessional conduct and highlighted the poor state of medical equipment, particularly blood testing machines, at the facility. In response, the health workers, under the supervision of their matron, emphasized their dedication to delivering improved and efficient healthcare.
During a visit by our editor, the community leader of Elebu, Alhaji Alajimo Najimu, addressed the previous publication, stating that the health center was originally established by the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde to serve as a first aid and emergency response facility, particularly for residents who may not be able to afford hospital fees.
“Myself and my executive members closely monitor the activities at the health center,” Alhaji Najimu said. “We ensure that no incompetent nurse is allowed to work there, and that no essential equipment remains in a state of disrepair.”
Alhaji Najimu also used the opportunity to appeal to the Oyo State Government for urgent intervention in fixing the long-abandoned Elebu road, which he described as a major hindrance to accessing healthcare and other essential services.
“We in Elebu community do not support any political figure apart from Governor Seyi Makinde. As a pensioner, I receive my pension regularly because of his efforts, and I remain loyal to his administration,” he said. “We are begging the governor to extend his goodwill to us by repairing our road. The condition of Elebu road is very bad, and it’s affecting our daily lives.”
Residents hope that the state government will respond promptly to the call, not only to aid transportation but also to improve access to the health center that serves as a lifeline for the community.
