In a continued effort to empower young people in Akwa Ibom State through global exposure and capacity building, the chairman house committee on public procurement and member representating Ukanafun federal constituency Rt. Hon. Unyime Idem have sponsored another 15th batch of six Akwa Ibomites to departed for China to undergo a specialized training programme. The training will focus on the High-Quality Development of the Sesame Industry, as well as Community Building and Volunteer Services.
The six beneficiaries Imo Malachy Nkantion, Inimfon Dick Udoinyang, Ukeme Mfon Nelson, Stanley Sunday Peter, Alfred Elder Udofia, and Goodnews Nse Thompson are part of an all-expense-paid initiative under the administration’s youth empowerment programme aimed at equipping a total of 100 young people with globally competitive skills.
While addressing the participants before their departure, Rt. Hon Unyime Idem emphasized the importance of global exposure in today’s interconnected world.
“The world is a global village, and there is a need for you to be exposed to modern technology so you can compete with your counterparts globally. Wherever you find an opportunity to work, you must not lag behind,” Idem said.
He added that his personal development has been significantly shaped by international training and experiences, and it is his desire for these young Akwa Ibomites to exceed his own achievements.
Each participant received a Letter of Nomination and Sponsorship to Training in China, which outlined their entitlements, including travel allowances, and stressed the life-changing potential of the training.
“As a participant in the training, you’re entitled to a travelling allowance, but beyond that, your experience there will put you on a pedestal to compete favourably with your counterparts across the globe,” the letter read.
The letter also charged the participants to be of exemplary conduct, serving as ambassadors of both Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria.
“I therefore advise you to be of good conduct as an ambassador of Akwa Ibom State and the country, Nigeria. I wish you a safe stay throughout the training period and journey mercies, to and from China. Congratulations.”
This initiative is part of a broader commitment to youth development, economic empowerment, and global readiness, with the goal of producing self-reliant individuals equipped to lead in various industries at home and abroad.
