Senate Minority Leader and representative of Benue South Senatorial District, Abba Moro, has said that former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, stands a strong chance of securing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ticket for the 2027 presidential election—if he decides to return to the party.
Speaking on Politics Today, a Channels Television programme, Moro emphasized that in politics, outcomes are often unpredictable and alliances can shift based on strategic interests.
“But you know, in politics, nothing is certain. I’ve always said that in politics, two plus two is not four,” Moro said. “These are matters of interest. And when it comes to existential interest from a community of persons within a geopolitical zone, it is possible.”
He added that while the PDP has not officially reached out to Peter Obi, there are individuals within the party who are already engaging in informal conversations with him.
“If Peter Obi comes back and emerges as the most supported and most acceptable candidate, he stands a real chance of getting the PDP ticket. That would certainly position the party strongly for the 2027 general elections,” Moro stated.
The comment adds to growing speculation about Obi’s political future and the possibility of realignments ahead of the next presidential race.
