FCT Police Intensify Patrols, Target Criminal Hideouts, Especially Uncompleted Buildings

Newsie Events :

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has ordered all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) to intensify patrols and conduct thorough raids on suspected criminal hideouts, particularly uncompleted and abandoned buildings across the territory.

This directive was issued by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, in a statement released on Tuesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh. According to the statement, the order takes immediate effect.

SP Adeh explained that the move is part of the command’s proactive efforts to curb criminal activities and prevent hoodlums from turning construction sites into hideouts.

The police also called on property developers in the FCT to visit the nearest police divisions and ensure that all security guards, artisans, and labourers residing at active construction sites are duly documented and profiled before the end of October 2025.

Furthermore, CP Ajao directed DPOs to carry out routine patrols around such areas and arrest any unidentified individuals found loitering at construction sites after 6:00 p.m.

The statement also reaffirmed that scavenging, locally known as “Baban Bola,” remains banned within the FCT.

Residents were urged to remain vigilant and promptly report any scavengers or suspicious persons spotted in their communities to the police.
