Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that the state remains unsafe for bandits, terrorists, and all forms of criminal activity.
The governor made the declaration on Thursday while presenting the 2026 budget estimated at over N878 billion to the State House of Assembly.
He stressed that Bauchi has worked tirelessly to secure lasting peace, adding that anyone attempting to disrupt that peace would face the full weight of the law.
“Bauchi has sacrificed a lot to attain the peace we currently enjoy. We will not tolerate any attempt by individuals or groups to turn our state into a haven of fear or insecurity,” he stated.
Mohammed issued a stern warning to anyone involved in banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, or violence, noting that such persons would be firmly dealt with.
He also cautioned traditional rulers and public officials against shielding criminals or engaging in fraudulent land transactions. Selling community land, forest reserves, or grazing areas without government approval, he said, would attract serious sanctions.
“No leader or government worker should harbour criminals, negotiate with them, or sell land illegally. Anyone caught aiding criminals or disposing of land unlawfully will face strict consequences,” he warned.
The governor further reiterated his administration’s resolve to combat illegal logging, mining, charcoal production, and the use of forest areas as hideouts for criminals.
“We will continue to manage our land and forest resources responsibly for farmers, herders, investors, and future generations. But under no circumstances will we allow any part of Bauchi—whether forest, hill, or village—to become a refuge for criminals,” he added.
