Abure-led labour party NEC confirms 2024 convention officers, moves to fill party vacancies.

The Julius Abure–led faction of the Labour Party has reaffirmed the national officers elected during its 2024 national convention held in Nnewi, Anambra State. This confirmation came after a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting convened on Friday at the party’s national secretariat in Utako, Abuja.

A statement jointly issued by factional National Chairman Julius Abure and factional National Secretary Umar Farouk Ibrahim disclosed that the meeting had in attendance members of the National Working Committee, state chairmen and secretaries, key stakeholders, co-opted NEC members in line with Article 13(A) of the party’s constitution, as well as representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

During the session, NEC reviewed the disputes linked to the 2024 national convention, ongoing court cases, and INEC’s stance on the matter. The council also confirmed other officers, including the national treasurer, publicity secretary, legal adviser, financial secretary, organising secretary, women leader and youth leader.

Furthermore, NEC authorized the national chairman and secretary to convene a special convention when required and approved plans to roll out ward, local government and state congresses nationwide.
