2027 Election: Dele Momodu says Atiku remains the only opposition’s best shot against Tinubu

By Our Reporter

Dele Momodu, a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has argued that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is the only opposition candidate currently positioned to mount a serious challenge against President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential elections

Momodu criticised the fragmented state of the opposition, noting their continued failure to unite or craft a coordinated strategy capable of dislodging the incumbent administration. Sharing his thoughts on Facebook, the veteran journalist expressed doubts about the readiness of other opposition aspirants.

He questioned how anyone hoping to defeat Tinubu could do so without a unified front or a clear game plan, especially with the election fast approaching.

According to Momodu, Atiku now pursuing the presidency for the seventh time appears to be the only aspirant demonstrating a practical and methodical approach to campaigning. He stressed that defeating a formidable political opponent requires far more than online popularity.

Momodu highlighted the need for significant financial resources, nationwide political structures, strategic religious balancing, and broad ethnic support. He concluded that many opposition figures either lack the ambition to genuinely contest or are indifferent to Tinubu remaining in office, which he described as a continuation of a “charade of a government.”
