The Rivers State House of Assembly on Tuesday endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term, passing a vote of confidence in his leadership.
During plenary, Speaker Martins Amaewhule stated that Tinubu has performed creditably in his first term and deserves the opportunity to continue in office beyond 2027. He said legislators would begin mobilizing their constituents to support the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to Amaewhule, state governors and local government chairmen no longer struggle to pay salaries, attributing the improvement to increased funding made available to sub-national governments under Tinubu’s administration.
“Funds are now very much available to the states and local governments, and we appreciate Mr President for that. We are pleased with the direction of the economy,” he said.
On security, the Speaker acknowledged ongoing challenges but maintained that Tinubu’s efforts are yielding results. He urged citizens and local authorities to cooperate with security agencies by reporting criminal activities rather than blaming the Federal Government.
He added that the Assembly remains committed to supporting the president, praying for his continued strength and good health to lead the country effectively.
Amaewhule also praised Tinubu for appointing Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, describing Wike’s performance in Abuja as commendable.
