A fresh wave of controversy has hit the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as the faction aligned with Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, insists that several prominent figures including Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and former Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum are no longer members of the party.
In a statement issued by PDP National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, the faction warned the public against engaging with individuals involved in the recently held National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State. According to the statement, the listed figures had already been expelled by the National Executive Committee (NEC) on November 18, 2025, over alleged anti-party activities and gross misconduct.
Among those said to have been expelled are Bala Mohammed, Dauda Lawal, Seyi Makinde, Emmanuel Udom, Adolphus Wabara, Taofeek Arapaja, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, Ben Obi, Bode George, Okechukwu Obiechina, Emmanuel Ogiad, Emmanuel Ebiden, Sumaita Adamu Bunza, Koshoedo Setonji, Suleiman Kadade Mohammed, Daniel Woyengikuro, Umar Damagum, and Umar Sani.
The faction insisted that none of the expelled individuals has the authority to act or speak on behalf of the PDP, stressing that any engagement with them is “at the peril” of those who participate.
Anyanwu also dismissed the Ibadan convention as an illegal gathering, arguing that it violated existing court orders and therefore holds no legitimacy.
“The so-called convention in Ibadan was nothing more than a social event without legal standing,” the statement read. “Anyone claiming to be a newly elected national officer from that gathering is merely an impostor.”
The statement also reaffirmed that the PDP has yet to conduct an official national convention in line with the party’s constitution.
