Troops of the Headquarters 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have intensified their offensive operations across Taraba State, recording significant breakthroughs against armed groups.

According to a statement issued by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, the troops carried out a major clearance operation on December 2, 2025, under Operation Zafin Wuta. The operation covered Shiid, Agia, and Tyozua villages in Takum Local Government Area after intelligence revealed the presence of armed groups in the Tor-Tser axis.

As the soldiers advanced toward the mountainous hideouts, the bandits reportedly abandoned their camps and fled deeper into difficult terrain. The troops searched and subsequently destroyed the camps, which the criminals had long claimed were beyond the reach of security forces.

In Tyozua, the fleeing bandits attempted to hinder troop movement by setting a wooden bridge on fire, but the soldiers continued their pursuit, pushing the criminals across the power-line area into neighbouring Benue State. One suspect, identified as Dahiru Maigari, was arrested during the operation and is currently under investigation.

In a separate incident on December 4, troops on a fighting patrol around Karim Lamido came under fire near Wudompi Community. The soldiers swiftly repelled the ambush, neutralising two armed men. A search of the area led to the recovery of an AK-47 rifle and 21 rounds of ammunition. No military casualties were recorded.
The attackers are believed to be members of the Karimjo faction, which has been attempting to reorganise in the area. Security operations in Karim Lamido remain ongoing, with troops on heightened alert.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade/Sector 3 OPWS, praised the troops for their professionalism and courage. He reaffirmed the Army’s commitment to pursuing criminal elements across all terrains in Taraba State, stressing that no hideout is beyond the reach of the military.
