Former Anambra State governor and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has declared that he will not accept a vice presidential position ahead of the 2027 general election, signaling his intention to pursue the top office once again.
Speaking on Sunday night during an X Spaces conversation focused on his political future and leadership plans, Obi dismissed suggestions that he might run as a running mate.
According to him, his years of experience and preparation for leadership go beyond the role of a deputy.
“I am not travelling round the world to learn governance to be Vice President,” Obi said.
The former governor stressed his confidence in his capacity to lead Nigeria, pointing to his background in business and governance as evidence of his readiness to govern the country.
“I know how to turn Nigeria around. I built my business from scratch and have more experience than any candidate, including the sitting President.”
Obi also confirmed his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election and appealed to supporters for continued backing as he positions himself for another run.
“Peter Obi will be on the ballot in 2027. I need your support. I need your prayers.”
