Honourable Abel Abraham, the flagbearer of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) for Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections, has declared that his political ambition is driven by a desire to serve the people and not for personal power or political status.

Speaking exclusively in an interview with the editor of NewsieEvents.com, Abraham said his decision to venture into politics was informed by the persistent challenges facing his constituency, including unemployment, poor infrastructure, and limited access to opportunities for young people. According to him, he could no longer remain on the sidelines while communities continued to struggle without meaningful intervention.

He emphasized that his vision for representation is rooted in grassroots impact, stressing that the National Assembly seat is an opportunity to directly influence development in his constituency. Abraham noted that true leadership must be measured by how well it responds to the needs of the people, especially at the community level where hardship is most felt.

Outlining his agenda, the PRP candidate said youth empowerment and job creation would be at the center of his legislative priorities if elected. He explained that he intends to promote structured skills acquisition programmes, support agricultural development, and encourage small and medium-scale enterprises as a way of tackling unemployment and improving livelihoods across the constituency.

Abraham also placed strong emphasis on education, particularly the need to improve bursary support for students. He said many young people in the area are forced to abandon their academic dreams due to financial constraints, adding that legislative intervention in education support would be a key focus of his representation.

Addressing concerns over his movement between political parties, Abraham dismissed criticisms of inconsistency, describing political parties as mere platforms rather than destinations. He maintained that his commitment has always been to the people, insisting that his journey across different parties was shaped by the pursuit of a credible platform to achieve his objectives.

He further revealed that he maintains cordial relationships with key political stakeholders in the state and at the national level, noting that collaboration with leaders such as the Senate President and the Governor is essential for effective governance and development delivery.

Abraham called on his supporters to remain peaceful, focused, and law-abiding as the 2027 general elections approach, urging them to stay committed to what he described as a mission of hope, service, and transformation for the constituency.
