The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has postponed its planned Contractors and Partners Chief Executive Officers’ Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Conference in Abuja following the reported confirmation of an Ebola case in the Federal Capital Territory.

The state-owned oil company announced the decision in a notice published on its account on Wednesday, explaining that the postponement was a precautionary measure in response to the outbreak.

The conference, which was scheduled for October 21 and 22, 2026, was expected to bring together chief executives of the company’s contractors and business partners to discuss health, safety and environmental issues.

In its announcement, NNPCL stated: “The NNPC Limited Contractors and Partners CEO HSE Conference, scheduled for 21–22 October 2026 in Abuja, has been postponed as a precaution following confirmation of an Ebola case in Abuja,”

The development comes amid growing concerns over the reported Ebola case in the nation’s capital and efforts to prevent further transmission of the disease.

Recall that the Nigerian government had confirmed an Ebola case in Abuja and identified 44 close contacts as part of efforts to monitor possible exposure and contain the outbreak.

NNPCL’s decision to postpone the conference highlights the precautionary measures being taken in response to the reported health emergency. No new date for the event was provided in the announcement.
