2027: Bishop urges northern Christians to unite behind Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Bishop John Praise Daniel, General Overseer of Dominion Chapel International, has called on Christians across Northern Nigeria to unite across denominational, ethnic and political lines in support of President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

Daniel made the appeal during the commissioning of the national secretariat of Arewa Christians for Tinubu (ACT-2027) in Abuja, where he stressed that unity would be crucial to achieving the organisation’s political objectives.

He urged Northern Christians to put aside religious and tribal differences, arguing that a common vision and collective action would strengthen the group’s mobilisation efforts.

“When we are united, there is no impossibility that will stand against us,” he said.

The cleric expressed confidence in ACT-2027’s ability to mobilise support for Tinubu ahead of the next presidential election. He urged members to take the campaign to communities across the region, including villages, local government areas and wards, to promote the group’s agenda.

“We cannot be divided on politics and tribes. When we see something that is good, we hold to it and stand together,” Daniel said.

Explaining his decision to support Tinubu’s re-election, the bishop recalled meeting the president in 2022, when the APC’s Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket generated controversy.

He said he had supported giving Tinubu an opportunity to lead, citing his expectations that the president would address insecurity and improve the balance of political appointments.

According to Daniel, the appointment of Christians to key government positions has further strengthened his support for the administration.

He specifically mentioned Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and General Christopher Musa, Minister of Defence, as examples of Christian representation in the government.

Daniel also urged Northern Christians to focus on their collective interests and work together despite differences in political affiliation. He said support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition formed a central part of ACT-2027’s immediate strategy, expressing hope that another term would create room for further political engagement and negotiations on issues affecting Christians in the region.

The commissioning of the secretariat, he added, was part of efforts to strengthen the organisation’s structure and coordinate its mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 general election.

ACT-2027 has set a target of securing five million votes for Tinubu in the forthcoming presidential poll.

The group’s convener and national coordinator, Ambassador Ayuba Ngbako, said it planned to mobilise supporters across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory through structures at state, local government and ward levels.

The organisation has also announced plans to unveil a book in December titled Meet President Tinubu and His 52 Managers of the Economy as part of its advocacy activities.
