… Etim Ekpo comes alive as residents turn out for Udo Etukudoh foundation event
By Divine Sam
Residents of Etim Ekpo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State came out in large numbers for an event organised by the Etim Ekpo chapter of the Chief Hon. Udo Etukudoh Foundation, turning the gathering into a lively display of community spirit and grassroots mobilisation.
A video from the event shows men and women dressed in colourful traditional attire moving together in a procession, carrying banners and making their way to the local government council premises, where participants gathered.
The turnout reflected the enthusiasm of those who took part, with the event bringing residents together in an atmosphere of solidarity and shared purpose.
Beyond the gathering itself, the event has drawn attention to the role of community-based organisations in connecting with residents and mobilising support at the grassroots. It also brings the name of Professor Nkereuwem Etukudoh into the conversation, given his profile in professional service and leadership.
The gathering comes at a time when political activities and discussions around the 2027 general elections are gradually taking shape across the country. Support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has featured in local political conversations, although any claim that all participants at the event collectively endorsed their re-election would need to be confirmed by a clear statement from the organisers or those present.
For many communities, events of this nature offer an opportunity for residents to come together, strengthen local relationships and make their voices heard. The level of participation in Etim Ekpo suggests that grassroots gatherings remain an important part of community and political engagement in Akwa Ibom State.
