Actor Emeka Ike has suffered a setback in his N10 billion legal battle against INEC and Lere Olayinka, as the Federal High Court in Abuja rules that he failed to provide credible evidence to support his claims.
The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a N10 billion damages suit filed by Nollywood actor Emeka Ike against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Lere Olayinka, an aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The court dismissed the case on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, ruling that the actor failed to establish a credible basis for his claims.
Ike had approached the court over the alleged publication of his personal data in INEC’s database, arguing that the actions of the electoral commission and Olayinka had caused him significant hardship and damage.
He asked the court to award him N10 billion in compensation and declare the actions of the defendants illegal and unconstitutional.
However, delivering judgment, Justice Salim Ibrahim held that the actor failed to provide credible evidence showing that INEC and Wike’s aide had violated his rights.
The judge ruled that Ike had not sufficiently demonstrated how the defendants’ actions infringed on his rights, adding that his case lacked substance.
Consequently, the court dismissed the suit, ruling in favour of INEC and Olayinka on the grounds that the actor’s allegations were not substantiated.
Although the judge did not award costs against the actor, he cautioned against filing frivolous lawsuits capable of wasting the court’s time.
