We are setting the standard in traditional medicine against quackery – NANTMP

 

The national association of Nigerian traditional medicine practitioners Oyo State chapter have said that the association in Oyo State is working effectively to prioritise professionalism in the traditional medicine practice.

Speaking with Newsieevents shortly after their enlarged general meeting at Dapo House in ibadan the state secretary of the association Dr. Arogundade Temitayo said they are setting up the standard to eliminate quackery in  the industry against fake drugs, stressing that NANTMP in Oyo State is working eminently to meet the international standard.

Dr. Temitayo who is the CEO IDERA TRADOMEDICAL AND SPIRITUAL center said the association was formed to enable the herbal practitioners check the activities of fake herbal medicine as well as regulate the traditional medicine practitioners across the state.

While calling on traditional medicine practitioners to come together under one umbrella to achieve the aim and objectives of the traditional medicine healers, he reminded them that the association was formed to enable herbal practitioners to meet up with World Health Organization (WHO) standard.

“Traditional medicine association, was formed to actualize our goals and create medicine from herbs to international standard. We actualize our goals by organising workshop and conferences and inviting doctors to train us on how to make the medicine to international standard.

” we have our outlet in every local government areas in Oyo State, same way we have leaders at the state we also have some leaders at the local government because they are the people going to the grassroot the outskirts of Oyo State to treat people. We carry them along, we do seminars symposium to upgrade what they have in their document, so we go to the rural, the urban and every part of Oyo State to ensure traditional medicine practitioners are up to date”

Dr Temitayo said “when people are complaining that they cannot afford to go to the hospital because of the high level of hospital bills, the traditional medicine are at the foot step of every region to profused lasting solutions to their health challenge both physical and spiritual.

He commended the leadership of the state Chairman Dr Iyiola Omotosho for his leadership qualities especially taking the organisation to the pedestrian of partnership with oyo state governments particularly the state ministry of health.

Also speaking the state Chairman peace Committee of the organisation Chief Dr. Iyiola Omotosho congratulated all herbs and traditional practitioners in Oyo State for the achievement recorded under his administration.

He called on NANTMP members in the state to be united and work collectively for the common goal of the organisation.

The critical point of discussion during the meeting was the report of elections in Abuja, Odogbo and Abeokuta, progress of the association in Oyo State, state election process and it requirement, plan to maintain peace and harmony within all association and touring processes to all various parts of the state.

Major stakeholders of the association attended the meeting and contributed the quotas.
