Suspected members of the notorious Lakurawa gang have launched a deadly attack on Kwallajiya village in Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State, killing at least 15 people.
The assault reportedly occurred on Wednesday afternoon when the assailants stormed the village, unleashing violence on unsuspecting residents. According to local sources, all 15 victims were laid to rest the same evening in line with Islamic burial rites.
A resident, speaking anonymously, expressed deep sorrow over the recurring bandit attacks plaguing the area. He alleged that the terrorists often receive intelligence from informants within the local communities, which aids their operations.
“It is critical that residents of these affected areas strengthen their cooperation with security agencies to combat the activities of these wicked individuals,” the source said.
Efforts to reach DSP Ahmed Rufai, the spokesperson for the Sokoto State Police Command, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
