Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has pledged financial assistance to residents who fled to Cameroon during the Boko Haram insurgency, urging them to return home.

Speaking on Monday at the Minawao refugee camp in Cameroon’s Far North region, Zulum assured displaced residents that the state had strengthened security across communities such as Gwoza, following extensive military operations and civilian security efforts.

He emphasized that the well-being of refugees, internally displaced persons, and returnees remains central to his administration’s humanitarian and development priorities.

To support their reintegration, Zulum announced that the Borno State Government, in collaboration with the federal government, will provide N500,000 to each refugee willing to return, while female-headed households will receive N100,000.

According to the governor, the initiative aims to help returnees begin rebuilding their homes and restore stability to their lives.
