Zamfara APC calls for arrest of PDP women leader over alleged threats ahead of 2027 elections.

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has demanded the immediate arrest of the state’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Women Leader, Hajiya Rabi Madawaki, over alleged inciting statements directed at opposition supporters in the buildup to the 2027 general elections.

In a statement released on Monday by APC Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris, the party accused Madawaki of issuing violent threats during a recent political event in Gusau, reportedly in the presence of the state governor’s wife, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda.

“Elections should be peaceful, free, and fair in any democratic society. In our current dispensation, candidates are expected to campaign by sharing their vision and promises to the electorate,” Idris said. “However, Hajiya Rabi Madawaki chose a path of threats and intimidation instead.”

According to the APC, Madawaki allegedly declared in Hausa, “Anyone who does not vote for Dauda, we will maim and beat him” (“Zamuci ubanshi, zamu yi masa duka”) a statement she reportedly repeated multiple times during the gathering.

The party expressed concern that such remarks, coming from someone without an official government role, raise alarm about the potential conduct of Governor Dauda Lawal and his allies as the 2027 elections draw near.

The APC condemned Madawaki’s comments as “uncivilized and dangerous,” calling on the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services (DSS) to take swift action. “She does not enjoy any form of immunity, and her statements pose a threat to public peace and democracy,” the party said.

They further argued that her actions contradict the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who they say is working to foster a more tolerant and inclusive political atmosphere. “Such intimidation has no place in Nigeria’s evolving democracy,” the APC concluded.
