The Chairman of Victory Garden Estate, Elebu, off Akala Expressway in Ibadan, Oyo State, Pastor Omotade Olufemi, has emphasized that the responsibility of educating children lies with everyone parents, teachers, government, and the entire society.

Pastor Olufemi made this statement during an interview at the estate’s vibrant Children’s Day celebration, which drew a large crowd of children, parents, and guardians. The event featured a range of academic and recreational activities to mark the occasion.

Reflecting on the recent mass failure in the 2025 examinations, Pastor Olufemi described it as a systemic issue, attributing the root cause to the broader economic downturn affecting families and institutions. He noted that many parents are now unable to afford extra tutoring for their children, while social media platforms like TikTok continue to distract young minds.

He urged parents not to relent in providing a conducive environment that encourages learning and moral development. “Parents must be fully committed to the upbringing of their children, even in these trying economic times,” he said.

Pastor Olufemi stressed the need for values-based upbringing, warning that the absence of strong moral foundations at home often leads children astray. “Many youths involved in internet fraud and other vices today were once children who lacked the right upbringing. We must act now to instill the right values while they are still young,” he added.

He called on parents and guardians to remain steadfast in their roles, emphasizing that raising morally upright children would produce responsible citizens and reduce societal ills. He also offered prayers for parents to receive the strength and wisdom needed to guide their children.

The Children’s Day celebration featured a variety of activities including quiz competitions across different class levels, debates, games, dancing, and award presentations making the 2025 celebration both fun and impactful.
