The Chairman PDP elders forum in Abak Urban ward 3 Abak LGA, Mr. Idongesit Udotong, who is also a retired principal has been reportedly maltreated by some hoodlums allegedly sponsored by the member representating Abak federal constituency in the National Assembly Mr Aniekan Umanah.
Mr. Udotong, according to reports is the incumbent political leader of Abak urban ward 3 in Abak LGA, received the beatings of his life in what was supposed to be solemn Assembly to install peace in the Area.
The hoodlums who according to our reliable source are boys loyal to the federal lawmaker Mr. Aniekan Umanah, who is equally accused of terrorising the ward and never agreed Mr. Udotong’s emergence as the political leader of the ward because of his intention to imposed one Mr. Michael Nse Hanson as his preferred ward leader.
Our reliable source reveals that Mr. Michael Hanson has been a councilor for three years and some months, later was appointed a supervisory councilor representing the ward in the council but with attempted school set as the only academic qualification.
The source said that the deputy Governor Mr. Moses Ekpo has set a standard of academic qualification for a councilor minimum of OND and if a councilor should be rated with minimum of OND, it means that the chairman elders forum should boast of higher diploma or a degree and if the immediate past Chairman of the elders forum in the ward was a degree holder then whoever should step into same position should equally posses similar qualification.
However, he expressed disappointment that Aniekan Umanah who is also a degree holder want to impose somebody who cannot prove he completed SSCE. it, therefore, means that Aniekan wants to pull down the ward to nothing and doesn’t want the progress of the ward.
He said the immediate past Chairman elders forum of the ward was an academic don, a lecturer and by the expiration of his tenure, whoever that should succeed him must also have the academic capacity to filled in the vacant.
Luckily, the incumbent who is currently serving as the chairman elders forum, is an academic don, a retired principal of a school.
He said Aniekan Umanah’s intention is to pocket, ruin and dominate the ward for his selfish aspirations, that is why he want to impose a “stack illiterate” as leader of the ward so that he can influence major decisions in the ward.
Our reliable check also revealed that the current PDP ward Chairman Mr Luke Robinson Offiong, who was equally imposed by the same Aniekan Umanah, does not have first school leaving certificate.
According to the source, the ward Chairman of the party, Mr. Luke Robinson Offiong, in his age declaration, stated that he finished primary six when he was six years old, these are the caliber of persons that Aniekan Umanah is comfortable fighting to impose in Abak urban ward 3, those who cannot boast of their academic qualifications without telling stories.
He further said that there has been series of unfortunate events happening in the ward until the newly elected Chairman elders forum Mr Idongesit Udotong, a retired principal decided to call for a solemn Assembly unknowingly, some thugs has been mobilize to interrupt the exercise.
Our source said “The ward chairman came in with some thugs loyal to aniekan umanah and they were shouting anukan is our leader. They stormed the venue with beer bottles, machetes and other harmful weapons, they beat up the participants, destroyed the ceiling of the building, break the table and chairs and finally join force to manhandled the chairman Elders Forum Mr. Idongesit Udotong.”
He said the matter has been taken to the police in Abak and notice of invitation has been sent to the parties involved by the police.
When our correspondent contacted the DPO of Abak division ASP Uwem Koffi, he confirmed that the division has sent letters across, inviting the two parties involved to appear at the station for fair hearing.
