Actor Ugezu Ugezu asks FG declare it a criminal offense for influencers to influence products they’re not using

Newsie Events:

Nollywood actor and prolific filmmaker, Ugezu J Ugezu has asked government to put rules and regulations in place to guide and control the activities of brand influencers in Nigeria.

Ugezu who made this suggestion through his official Instagram page noted that taking this step would be one of the many ways to start healing our land.

The film producer opined that social media influencers should be banned from influencing products that they did not use personally.
Also, he urged the government to make it a criminal offence for influencers to influence products that they do not use.

His post reads,“One of the many ways to start healing our land. Let it be made a criminal offence for influencers to boldly influence people to use what they are not using. This, in my considered view, will checkmate many things”.

However, social media users reacted for and against his suggestion. While many agreed with his stance others stated that influencing is a hustle and not a lifestyle, so brand influencers do not have to use a product before they advertise it to their audience.
