Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has publicly rejected the decision of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The PDP, during its ongoing national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, announced the expulsion of Wike, former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, the party’s National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, and eight other members over allegations of anti-party activities and actions deemed detrimental to the unity of the party.

The convention, held at the Lekan Salami Stadium with delegates from 17 states in attendance, adopted the decision after a motion moved by party chieftain Bode George, who cited persistent conduct by the affected members that allegedly undermined the party’s collective interests.

Reacting to the development, Governor Fintiri issued a statement firmly disassociating himself from the move.

He said:
“I, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Governor of Adamawa State, wish to categorically state that I am not in support of the expulsion of the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike, from the PDP. I believe this action is not in the best interest of the party, and I will not be part of anything that could worsen the ongoing crisis.”

Fintiri emphasized that his commitment is to the unity and stability of the PDP, stressing that reconciliation, not punitive measures, is the best path forward.

“As a dedicated party member, I stand firmly for peace. I urge all stakeholders to prioritize healing and cohesion. My position is driven by a desire for reconciliation, and I will continue to support efforts that ensure progress within the PDP,” he added
