Atiku Abubakar resigns from PDP, launches new political front ahead of 2027.

Former Vice President and 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has officially resigned his membership from the opposition party.

The resignation comes as part of strategic moves toward the 2027 general election, following his admission to spearheading the formation of a new coalition, the Alliance Democratic Congress (ADC).

Atiku conveyed his resignation in a letter dated Monday, July 14, 2025, addressed to the chairman of the PDP in Jada 1 Ward, Jada Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

A copy of the letter was made public on Wednesday via X (formerly Twitter) by the former Vice President’s Special Assistant on Media.
