The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta North Senatorial District is grappling with internal strife following conflicting endorsements involving Senator Ned Nwoko and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

The crisis erupted after a well-attended APC stakeholders’ meeting held at Senator Nwoko’s country home in Idumuje-Ugboko last Saturday. During the gathering, loyalists of the senator unanimously passed a vote of confidence on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, and Senator Nwoko, signaling support for Nwoko’s re-election bid.

However, this endorsement was swiftly rejected by the “Forum of Delta North APC LGA Chairmen” and the “Forum of APC Ward Chairmen,” both reportedly aligned with former Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa. These forums dismissed the endorsement, disowning the move and questioning its legitimacy.

In response, the APC Chairman for Delta North, Ogbueishi Adizue Eluaka, strongly condemned the actions of the opposing forums. In a statement issued Wednesday, he denounced the groups as “unauthorized and unconstitutional,” stressing that their activities did not represent the official stance of the party.

Eluaka took decisive action by dissolving all party forums in the senatorial district, stating that such bodies were not recognized under the APC’s constitution. He emphasized the need for unity and discipline within the party ranks, warning against the formation of parallel structures.

“We will not sit back and watch a few disgruntled, sponsored individuals—operating under the guise of forums unknown to our constitution—create disunity and confusion within our party. APC remains a platform for progress, not personal agendas,” Eluaka stated.

Going forward, Eluaka announced that all party communications and decisions would be channeled directly through recognized LGA and ward chairmen on an individual basis. He added that any future meetings convened by the now-dissolved forums or unsanctioned groups would be considered illegal and subject to disciplinary action.
