Akwa Ibom State has entered a new phase of political engagement following the official confirmation of Engr. Dr. Iboro Johnny, FNSE, as the State Coordinator of the CityBoy Movement. His appointment approved by the Movement’s Director General, Comrade Francis Shoga marks a major step in expanding the group’s national reach and strengthening its operational presence at the grassroots.
Founded by Hon. Seyi Tinubu, the CityBoy Movement has established itself as a platform dedicated to community empowerment, civic participation, and leadership development. With Engr. Johnny now steering its activities in Akwa Ibom, the organization positions itself to benefit from his reputation for integrity, technical excellence, and public-service–driven leadership.
The timing of this appointment is particularly significant. Nigeria is currently navigating key aspects of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at translating federal initiatives into real improvements for citizens. Similarly, Akwa Ibom is advancing its ARISE Agenda under Governor Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, which focuses on inclusive governance and developmental priorities. Engr. Johnny is expected to serve as a strategic link between these national and state efforts, fostering youth empowerment, economic growth, and community-centered development across the state.
In expressing gratitude for the confidence placed in him, acknowledgments were extended to President Tinubu for creating opportunities for capable Nigerians to contribute to nation-building. Appreciation was also directed to CityBoy Movement Grand Patron Hon. Seyi Tinubu, whose national influence continues to shape the Movement’s progress; to Senate President Godswill Akpabio for his consistent support; and to Governor Umo Eno, whose endorsement underscores his commitment to broad-based leadership.
Beyond his distinguished academic and professional track record, Engr. Johnny is widely recognized for his strategic insight, administrative capacity, and deep connection to grassroots communities. Under his leadership, Akwa Ibom is expected to gain improved access to federal empowerment programs and greater visibility in national political discourse, especially in areas involving youth engagement and civic participation.
The CityBoy Movement’s expansion into Akwa Ibom through this appointment reaffirms its mission: promoting unity, nurturing purposeful leaders, and advancing community-driven progress. For the state, it signals the emergence of a forward-looking voice committed to service, responsibility, and transformative leadership.
A new chapter has opened and with it, a renewed commitment to duty and development.
