The Federal Government has declared Thursday, May 1st, a public holiday to commemorate Workers’ Day across the country.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, applauded Nigerian workers for their hard work, dedication, and their vital role in driving the nation’s development both domestically and internationally.
He emphasized the importance of peace in fostering industrial growth and economic progress, encouraging workers to embrace innovation and maintain high levels of productivity.
“There is dignity in labour. Our collective dedication to work is essential to nation-building,” Tunji-Ojo stated.
He reassured Nigerians of the government’s continued commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens and foreigners in the country.
While wishing workers a joyful celebration, the minister called on the public to remain hopeful, reaffirming President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to the “Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Tunji-Ojo further urged workers to continuously improve their skills and performance, as this would enhance governance and allow Nigerians to enjoy greater benefits from the country’s abundant resources.
