Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, is reportedly on the verge of leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party.
The announcement was made on Friday in Abuja by the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, and the Deputy National Chairman (South-East), Emma Eneukwu, during the inauguration of the new Enugu State caretaker committee.
According to the party leaders, Governor Mbah is expected to formally declare his defection at a public event scheduled to take place in Enugu next week.
Ben Nwoye, the newly appointed chairman of the APC caretaker committee in Enugu State, confirmed that the governor will be accompanied by all his political appointees in making the switch to APC.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports suggest that Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, may also be considering a move to APC
