In a strategic political move aimed at challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, the opposition coalition has officially adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform.

The coalition, which had previously attempted to float a new party, the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), faced hurdles with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding registration. As a result, negotiations with the ADC were revived, leading to Tuesday’s announcement of the adoption.

Key interim appointments were also revealed. Former Senate President David Mark will serve as the National Chairman of the party, while former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, takes on the role of National Secretary. Additionally, former Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi, has been named the party’s National Spokesperson.

The formal unveiling of the coalition’s alliance with the ADC is scheduled for Wednesday at 2 p.m., signaling the beginning of what could be a major political realignment ahead of the next general elections.
