The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially reinstated Samuel Anyanwu to his role as National Secretary, following extensive internal consultations and reconciliation efforts.

Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, the Acting National Chairman of the party, Ambassador Iliya Damagum, confirmed the decision. He was flanked by notable party leaders, including Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed and former Senate President Bukola Saraki, among other key stakeholders.

Damagum acknowledged that the decision was a tough one, but emphasized that it received majority support from party organs and members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

He further announced the cancellation of the previously scheduled National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. Instead, an expanded caucus meeting will be held on June 30th to deliberate on the party’s next strategic steps.

“Samuel Anyanwu is resuming his duties as the National Secretary. It was a critical and carefully considered decision,” Damagum stated. “As INEC has not received formal notice from us, the meeting on June 30th will be an extended caucus to decide the path forward.”
