The Provost of the Federal College of Medical Laboratory Science and Technology, Prof. Nkereuwem Sunday Etukudoh, has empowered communities, commissioned solar-powered water projects, and reaffirmed his total and unflinching support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR; President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio; and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno.
The empowerment activities were part of Prof. Etukudoh’s annual New Year get-together held at his residence in Midim, Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, which attracted a large gathering of traditional rulers, political leaders, ministers of the gospel, professionals, youth and women groups, and stakeholders from various communities.
As part of the event, Prof. Etukudoh commissioned a solar-powered water system at Ikot Ubo, Ward 4, in Oruk Anam Local Government Area, aimed at providing sustainable access to clean water for residents and neighbouring communities.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Etukudoh urged the people to continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno, noting that their leadership has continued to deliver visible dividends of democracy across Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria at large.
According to him, development thrives where leadership is supported by the people, stressing that unity, peace, and collective responsibility remain critical to sustainable progress.
The Provost, who is also the pioneer Board of Trustees (BOT) Chairman of Eka Midim Community, affirmed that his community would continue to stand solidly with the trio of leaders beyond 2027, citing their people-oriented governance and commitment to infrastructural and human capital development.
He explained that the scale of empowerment witnessed during the annual get-together was made possible by the enabling environment created under the administrations of President Tinubu, Senator Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno.
While commissioning the solar water project in Oruk Anam LGA, Prof. Etukudoh called on the host community to take ownership of the facility and ensure proper maintenance to guarantee steady water supply for present and future generations.
He further urged residents to continue to rally behind Governor Umo Eno and Senate President Godswill Akpabio to attract more development projects to their communities.
The high point of the ceremony featured goodwill messages commending Prof. Etukudoh’s generosity and commitment to grassroots development, choir ministrations, cultural performances, and the distribution of over one thousand bags of rice, cash gifts, and other essential items to beneficiaries.
Prof. Etukudoh was widely praised for his long-standing contributions to human capital development, having facilitated employment opportunities for over one thousand graduates, as well as for his annual empowerment programmes which promote unity, peace, and inclusive growth.
