The Member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency and Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Public Procurement, Hon. Unyime Idem, has pledged to restore electricity to Ukanafun Local Government Area within 90 days, ending more than five years of total blackout.

This commitment follows an assessment tour carried out by a team of engineers who, acting on Rep. Idem’s directive, inspected the damaged electricity infrastructure responsible for disconnecting Ukanafun from the national grid. The engineers presented their findings and detailed the necessary materials and financial requirements needed to restore power within three months, provided all items are made available.

Rep. Idem, who was represented during the assessment by former Ukanafun Local Government Secretary, Obong James Ekekere, assured constituents that he would swiftly provide the required support to expedite the power restoration process.

In addition to this effort, the lawmaker also announced the donation of transformers to selected communities in Ukanafun LGA as part of a broader initiative to enhance electricity access across the area.

Emphasizing the importance of sustainability, Rep. Idem urged all villages within the local government to establish security committees dedicated to safeguarding power installations from vandalism and theft.

This latest move underscores the federal legislator’s ongoing commitment to infrastructure development and improved quality of life for residents of his constituency
