A stampede was reported to have occurred in the Obior-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State on Tuesday morning as customers of an online marketing firm, Inksnation besieged the company for the food items.
It was gathered that hundreds of customers who registered with the food firm formed a circle in front of the company’s complex with the hope of using the money in their electronic wallets to shop for food.
But the situation got worse as more crowds continue to gather and a lot of persons find it difficult to gain access to the company’s premises.
Many fainted while two others were reported dead following the stampede from the massive crowd.
Nnamdi Omoni, the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the incident.
He added that an investigation has been launched into the incident and those found culpable will face the law.
