The Chief Imam of Saykh Seun Ibrahim Central Mosque, Akpata, Ibadan, Oyo State, Alhaji Fasasi Kamal, has called on the Oyo State Government to ensure that perpetrators behind the killing of teachers and school children in the state are apprehended and brought to justice.
Speaking with Newsieevents during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the central mosque in Ibadan, the Islamic cleric condemned the killing of innocent citizens, describing the act as wicked, ungodly, and against the teachings of Islam.
According to him, the Holy Quran does not permit the shedding of human blood, stressing that Almighty Allah strongly forbids the unlawful taking of lives.
“The day I heard about the incident, my heart bled. Some people may try to blame the Muslim religion for such evil acts, but the truth is that politicians are behind many of the malicious happenings in Nigeria. The killing and shedding of innocent blood is nothing but a dangerous power play by politicians,” he said.
Alhaji Fasasi Kamal further stated that anyone involved in the attack must face the full wrath of the law, adding that the continued delay in arresting the perpetrators raises concerns among residents of the state.
“Governor Oluwaseyi Makinde is the Chief Security Officer of Oyo State, and I am surprised that till today the perpetrators of this crime have not been apprehended and brought before the public,” he added.
The cleric also used the occasion to call on Muslim faithfuls to remain law-abiding, faithful, and committed to peaceful coexistence with people of other religions.
He noted that Sallah is not only a period of celebration and merriment but also a season that promotes love, peace, unity, and tolerance irrespective of tribe or religion.
Alhaji Fasasi Kamal further urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts toward tackling the insecurity challenges facing the country.
