The 2027 political battle for Abak State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State is gathering momentum as the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Mr. Etimbuk Akpan, has unveiled Mr. Ekerette Benson, popularly known as Mr. Recorder, as the Director-General of his campaign council.

Benson’s appointment, announced over the weekend, followed an assessment of his political capacity and years of involvement in Abak politics, where he has played significant roles in the electoral successes of various candidates.

Benson also took a swipe at the current representative of Abak State Constituency and Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Mr. Udeme Otong, over his reported ambition to seek a third term in office.

He stated that there has never been such agreement in Abak State Constituency where one man want to remain in the state assembly for 12 years. He said the speaker of the state assembly and current representative of Abak state constituency Mr. Udeme Otong was being creedy in his decision to go for 3rd term despite his poor performance in the last 7 and half years.

The ADC campaign DG maintained that his political experience and previous involvement in election campaigns would be brought to bear in ensuring the success of Etimbuk Akpan at the polls.

Benson, who has contributed to the electoral fortunes of several candidates in the area over the years, pledged to mobilise support and work towards delivering the ADC flag bearer in the 2027 election.

Meanwhile, preparations for the inauguration of the campaign council are said to be in top gear, with plans underway to unveil other members who will join the campaign team ahead of the crucial state constituency election.
